Week 10, Weigh In

Weight: 219.8 lbs (-25.2 pounds total)
Waist: 38 in (-7 inches total)
Hips: 45 in (-5.5 inches total)

I'm HALFWAY TO MY 50 POUND goal!!!!!

No loss in the hips and waist this week, been stalled out in that department but I'm still losing weight so I'm a happy camper.  Honestly, I'd rather lose the weight because I'm having fit issues with almost ALL of my colthes.  OH WHAT PROBLEMS I HAVE!  Lol.

This week gets a SMILEY!

Day 69, Day 70

Friday ended up being a great day.  I was at school from 7:45 until 5:00 then we made the 2 hour trek to Stomp, an hour and 45 min for the show and the 2 hour trek back.  I got home late but it was SOOOO worth it.

I did really well planning out my food and the only thing I didn't count on was the chocolate craving after dinner.  It probably didn't help that all the kids were walking around with shakes and ice cream cones.  I gave in and bought a Hershey's Almond bar and that put me about 100 calories over my goal but still had a B+ for my nutrition grade.

The show was AWESOME and this was probably the smoothest band trip I've done!

I also ended up getting in my 30 minutes of exercise by running 5 laps around the halls with the kids, walking another mile around the school with *J* and then climbing the 100 steps from the lobby to the balcony.  Not to mention the 5 minute walk from the bus to the PAC with a load of excited kiddos.  I was really glad I found ways to get in the activity and not just say "no time tonight!"

Yesterday was still a great day, just in different ways.  I got up around 10:30 (thought admittedly I wanted to sleep later than that!) and sat around for a bit just waking up.  I heated up half of the last two servings of my tomato soup and then had to run to the store for the other components of my lunch.

After I ate I ran to the gym and did my 50 minute weight circuit and then met up with *J* for some racquetball.  We didn't play very long (about a half hour) because my chest was feeling tight and congested AND about half of our students showed up for a birthday party at the Y.  AWKWARD.

Anyway, I came home showered and changed, had my snack and headed back up to school.  Last night's trip was as equally uneventful (thank god) and the kids REALLY enjoyed the show.  Mom also met up with us to see the show and she thought it was Amazing too!  By the time I got home last night my chest was really congested and I was up for a LONG time listening to this audio book I downloaded to run to.  I ended up finishing it today...  So much for running.  OH WELL!

Day 68

Today was a pretty rough day at school but turned out to be a pretty good evening!

*J* and I did the 30 minute run tonight and SUCCEEDED!  I didn't track my running distance but with the 5 minute warm up and cool down I went 2.79 miles!  We've officially finished the 8 week program.  We're not quite to a 5K yet, but we've got a plan for that!

I was also trying to find a solution for my McDonald's dilemma.  You see, I'm taking a bunch of my kids to see STOMP and the only place to eat efficiently on the way is..  Dun DUn DUH!  McDonald's.

Now, I haven't had Fast Food since I started this diet.  That's 68 days with no fast food.  HOLY COW, that's a long time!  I wanted to be proactive though so I didn't get there and go nuts so I got on Calorie Count and planned what I'd eat ahead of time and GUESS WHAT!  I can have my normal breakfast, my normal lunch, a Southern Style Chicken Sandwich combo with fries and an iced tea for dinner, my normal kiwi snack AND another fiber antioxidant bar for the road.  AND I'M STILL UNDER MY CALORIE GOAL!  I'm really glad that I can eat pretty regularly and still stay on track.  I'm still not sure what I'm gonna do for exercise tomorrow, but I'll figure something out.

I'm contemplating taking all the kids that are going to be amped up and excited about STOMP in my room tomorrow on a run around the school.  It'll burn some of their energy, get me some running in AND they'll get to run in the school with permission.  I don't want to get all sweaty though, so we'll see if we really do this one.

Day 67

Not too much to report on today.  I didn't seriously injure myself today...  I don't think!

School was school and I came home and made some delicious chicken and mashed tatoes.  We went ahead and went to the gym tonight but I took it fairly easy.  I did the arms and abs part of my weight circuit and then we did 30 minutes on the bike.  I was happy the bike didn't aggravate my knee.  It's still been bothering me a bit today.

We also went down and played a little racquetball but I elected to stop when my finger started to swell a bit.  I'm trying to be smart and not let my injuries get the best of me!

Day 66

Or...  Why getting healthy is killing me....

1. Exercise Induced Asthma
2. Tonsil Stones
3. Road rash from nose dives on the racquetball court.
4. Getting hit in the face by racquetballs.
5. Racquetballs knocking my glasses off my face.
6. Smashing my finger between a 25 pound weight and the rack.
7. Waking up the next morning to find out that I can't bend said finger and that it is twice it's normal size.
8. Doing SOMETHING UNKNOWN to my right knee that causes it to hurt beneath my knee cap every time I straighten it.
9. Going to bed thinking the pain will be gone in the morning only to find out that it WAS NOT.
10. Answering the question "what did you do to your finger?" 10 MILLION times today because I see 500 students a day.

I SERIOUSLY NEED A BUBBLE.

Day 65

Today has been a pretty great day!  I got up really tired but by the time I got rolling in 1st hour I was feeling pretty good.

I ran and picked up some apples, yogurt and lunch meat at lunch and I'm normally not an apple (alone) person, but my brother, and then a student, turned me on to Honey Crisp Apples.  OH MAN they are good!  Normally I get a dry, waxy aftertaste with apples.  These are sweet enough that I don't get that!  This is a pretty exciting food development for me!

On another food note...  THE WEATHER HAS BEEN GORGEOUS HERE!  Hubs and I decided to grill tonight and MAN did we grill!  We did steaks with veggie skewers (mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, green bell peppers) steamed broccoli, grilled corn on the cob, and loaded potatoes au gratin.  HOLY COW it was amazing!  AND HEALTHY!

We hit the Y tonight after dinner and I did my weight circuit plus I added a couple more ab exercises onto my circuit!  At one point I was grabbing a weight off the rack and pinched my knuckle between the weight and the rack.  Tore some skin and swelled up a bit but it's all good now.  A little tender mayhaps, but still...  We played some racquetball and I got hit in the face with the ball.  Knocked my glasses into my nose and onto the floor.  We were really concerned they would be broken but it ended up ok!  It was a rough night for me!  LOL!  I'm telling ya, getting healthy really WILL kill me.

Tonsil Stones

WARNING!  THIS POST WILL BE GROSS!  PROCEED WITH CAUTION!

Ok, so I've been dealing with a sensitive issue for the past couple of weeks and it's time I come out with it...  I have developed Tonsil Stones.  Never heard of them?  There's a reason!  Up until pretty recently not even many doctors knew what they were.  From what I've read and understand of them, they are a build up of bacteria in the crypts (small tunnel like cavities) in your tonsils.  Never knew you had them?  Grab a flashlight and check it out.

Back in the beginning of February I started feeling like I had something stuck in my throat.  I pushed it away but about a week later I was really feeling it when I was brushing my teeth.  I turned on the flashlight on my phone and opened up wide and to my GREAT surprise, this is what I found.

Now, that's not me, but that is what I saw!  Only slightly larger.  I've had issues with my throat and tonsils since I was a kid.  I initially thought it might be a puss pocket and I had some sort of throat infection.  I immediately grabbed a q-tip and dipped it in hydrogen peroxide and began poking at the yellow spot.  After a few minutes I loosened it up a bit and something that looked like this came out!

I kept from throwing up OR freaking out (at this point I was convinced I had throat cancer!) and put that light back in my mouth and found more of these little buggers in my tonsil.  After about 10 minutes of cleaning them out, and getting almost 10 of theses things out, I was satisfied I had them all.  I IMMEDIATELY googled holes in my tonsils and came up with a wealth of information on Tonsil Stones.  Apparently these little guys SMELL AWFUL when you crush them (a pleasure I have not experienced) and can be a cause of bad breath.

After reading on them for about an hour and discovering that they are essentially harmless I was grossed out but satisfied I was done with that problem.  UNTIL A WEEK AGO.  I felt that feeling of something being stuck in my throat.  I opened up, turned on the light and sure enough...

So all week I've been checking and cleaning twice a day and pulling stuff out almost every time.  I've changed my toothpaste, started gargling, changing what I was eating in the morning but nothing is working.  I can't help but think these guys developing has been a result of the change in my diet since the beginning of the year.  WHO KNEW GETTING HEALTHY WOULD CAUSE ME SO MANY PROBLEMS!

Unfortunately the only real solution to these guys I've found is to have your tonsils removed.  Probably a good idea for me anyway, considering my history, but from what I'm reading it's hard to find a doctor who will do the surgery on someone my age unless the tonsils are super infected.  It's apparently a RISKY surgery the older you get.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!  These things are driving me crazy and poking around on my tonsils so much is irritating them and making them bleed.  I know it could be worse, it could be something fatal, but MAN is it annoying.  Anyone out there have tonsil stones?  Have YOU found a way to get rid of them?

Week 9, Weigh In

Here we go...

Weight: 223 (-1 lb from last week)
Waist: 38 inches (same as last week)
Hips: 45 inches (same as last week)

Not stellar numbers, but a pound is a pound!  I will do better this week and not do so much indulging.  I was really off my game this week.  SHEESH!  I'm taking the kids to see STOMP on Friday and Saturday so I will have to have McD's for dinner those two nights, but I'm going to do my research and make good decisions.  I WILL!

This week gets a SMILEY!

Day 64

And 63 and 62....

So I may have fallen off the blog for a bit.  Whoops.

So, on Day 62 I gained a pound at school and opted to not report my weight.  *J* and I also met up and ran Day 2, Week 8 of C25K.  That day was a 29 minute run.  AND WE DID IT!

Saturday I got up and had District Solo and Ensemble to take care of so I ran some errands between my kid's times.  I came home and got stuff together for dinner only to have a couple of Hub's older friends call us and want to meet up for dinner.  We went to a Mexican restaurant and I was very careful to plan exactly what I would and would not eat.

After dinner we parted ways with his older friends and met up with some of his coworkers at the bowling alley.  We ended up bowling for about 2 1/2 hours and that may not have been such a great idea.  Today I've been super sore and my ring finger on my right hand feels like it's been amputated and sewn back on.

After bowling everyone wanted to hit up Perkins for some food and I may have had a full breakfast.  It's one thing to restrain yourself around family, but around people you don't know and are in a first time social situation with...  I fell off the wagon.  But it was delicious....

I tried to sleep in this morning (considering I couldn't have been in bed before 2 this morning) but I ended up getting up at 9.  I did my weigh in (which I'll detail in my weekly weigh in post) and then pretty much sat around until Hubs came home for lunch.  After he went back to work I decided to take the dogs for a good walk to take advantage of our 65 degree weather today, and to try to loosen up my muscles.  That last part didn't work.

I met *J* at 5 and we tried to do Day 3 of Week 8, C25K but FAILED!  I was not feeling super hot and had to PUSH through the first 20 minutes.  I decided to take a 5 minute walk and run the last 5 for 25 minutes total.  OH WELL.  We're gonna repeat til we get it.

My last thought for this post...

For the past week (that I'm sure of) and a few times before that, I've been feeling the need to cough after I run.  It's mostly since I've gotten up into the 20+ minute runs.  I'll finish the run and on the cool down I'll feel a heaviness in my chest (like I'm congested) and I will have the need to cough.  Normally this feeling lasts about an hour and then I don't notice it again until I run again.

I didn't think much of it.  I thought it was just because I was working my lungs so hard keeping my breathing regulated.  But tonight *J* mentioned something about her coughing and maybe looking into taking something for it.  I googled it and boy am I not happy with what I've found.

After reading a lot of forums and checking out medical sites I'm pretty sure I've got Exercise Induced Asthma.  They talk about it only being a result of a really hard run or work out and how the symptoms feel like a bronchial infection.  Also that it becomes a little harder to breathe deeply while working out and that it goes away shortly after you finish your workout.

I had noticed before that it's sometimes hard to breathe when I run but I've chalked it up to not regulating my breathing well enough.

Looks like I'm going to be visiting the doctor soon.  If anybody out there suffers from EIA please let me know how you deal with it!  I've never had a serious health condition before and I'm kinda in the dark about knowing what to do.

Day 61

Today was a getting back on track kind of day!  I did pretty good at school today and only had half of one of my amazing cookies!  I also spent a lot of time having my music classes outside because it was GORGEOUS!

I made a dinner that was AMAZING!  We had carmelized chicken and mushrooms with a homemade creamy tomato soup!  OMG it was SOOOO good!  I mean, SO good!

We went to the Y tonight to do weights and only did one rep cause my arm was struggling from the strain on Monday.  We also ended up meeting up with two of Hub's friends and playing doubles racquetball.  THAT was interesting.  HA!  Weigh in for Biggest Loser tomorrow and I'm expecting a gain.  Whoops.  OFF WEEK!

Day 60

HA!  That was so appropriate!  I had an indulgent kind of day yesterday.

I took my kids to contest and we went to a local favorite restaurant.  I did some comprable search and found some good equals for what I ate and then we went to a frozen yogurt place after the contest where I had a small cup and loaded it with fruit so I got my fruit in there too!  After all was said and done I ended up high in my calorie range, but with an A- for a nutrition grade!  Not to shabby.

I did make some ridiculous cookies last night.  Chocolate chip oreo cookies.  As in an oreo inside of a chocolate chip cookie!  They were super messy which resulted in a lot of licking fingers and I did have one of the smaller cookies but that's still like 200 calories!  YIKES.  No work out either.  It's just been a tough week!

Day 59

Yesterday was quite a day.  I've been super busy at work and Hub's and I decided to make calzone's for dinner.

Not a super healthy dinner, but it was really good and I made the portions just right to keep it under my calories.

After I ate dinner (hubs was still at work) I sat down and took some me time for a couple of craft projects and to prep my kindergarten and pre-k sub cd's for today.  (I was gone to District Band Contest.)

When hub's got home we met up with *J* and did Day 1 of Week 8, C25K.  WEEK 8!  This is the last "technically" week in the program!  After this week we're supposed to be able to run for 30 minutes straight.  I think I'm going to go in a create a couple more weeks in my custom run and keep bumping up the times each run until we get to 45 minutes.  When I can run for 45 minutes, then we're going to move outside.  Or that's the idea anyway.  If I bump the time 5 minutes a week we can get to 45 minutes in 4 more weeks (including this last one of C25K.)  That's just in time to run a 5K in the end of March!  Just so happens that one of *J*'s college friends is hosting one near us in the end of March.  It looks like I might be able to check off one of my resolutions soon!

That's if we can keep up with that running!  Last night's run was NOT easy.  Very challenging mentally.  I'm going to have to really start looking into a great running playlist so I can get pumped and stop relying on the tv on the treadmill.  30 minutes by then end of this week just may kill me!  I guess they say whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger...

Day 58

It was very hard to find motivation today...  I think my over-indulgent weekend did me in and today it was REALLY tough to curb the cravings and talk myself out of the "it's ok if I have just one..." thoughts.

Monday's are just tough.  I was super tired all day.  I did get my new shoes today!  That was exciting, but when it came time to go work out I gained a bit of a headache, slipped on the rockwall at the Y and ended up pulling myself up with mainly my right arm and straining the pectoral muscle under my arm.  That pretty much killed any thought I had of swimming tonight, but honestly I was looking for an excuse anyway...  Hubs and I did play a good 40 min of racquetball so at least there was that.  I'm still trying to beg off the headache but I'm in bed typing this so I see lots of sleep in my future.

Day 57

Today has been a pretty good day.

Mom and I hit the gym this morning (to help take the edge of last night :-) ) and I did Day 3, Week 7 of C25K!  This run was a 5 minute warm-up, 27 minute run and a 5 minute cool down.

It was pretty a difficult run for me.  Not as bad as DAY 1 of Week 7, but I still had to battle my mind telling me to stop every 2 minutes or so.  I did the run though and I ended up running 2.09 miles and 2.61 miles overall!  Not to shabby if I do say so myself!

After the gym we had lunch at Panera and then back to Mom's to pack and head out to my cousin's b-day party.  Luckily for me he was having a skating party so I got an extra workout today.  Helps justify the cupcake I had!  After the party I headed home and made dinner (tomato basil pasta with chicken) and made another batch of the chocolate cheesecake strawberries (for a co-worker tomorrow.)

All in all it has been a pretty fun and productive day.  Now I've gotta go finish laundry and dishes, get a shower and get myself ready for school tomorrow!  Whooo!  What a FAST weekend.

Week 8, Weigh In

This week's STATS:

Weight: 224 pounds (- 1.6 from last week)
Waist: 38 inches (-1 from last week)
Hips: 45 inches (- .5 from last week)

Overall totals:

Weight: -21 pounds!
Waist: -7 inches!
Hips: -5.5 inches!

I'm pretty stoked about finally being under the 20 pound mark.  Now I am on a foreign scale so we'll see what the scale at home says tomorrow but I'm really happy with these results!  29 pounds to go until I reach my first goal!  I'M ALMOST HALFWAY THERE!

This week totally gets a smiley!!

Day 56

The sub title for this blog should be....  NOT OVERCOMING TEMPTATION!

As well as I did yesterday, I totally made up for that tonight!  I had a Girl's Night In with one of my best friends *N*, my SIL (sister-in-law) and my Mom.  IT WAS FABULOUS!

We did a Nacho bar (which surprisingly didn't turn out too bad on my log...) and we made some stuff from Pinterest....  Then it was chick flicks and popcorn.  Admittedly, I over did it, but I deserve a splurge every once in a while...  I may still try to log everything, but I'm not looking forward to seeing my indulgence on paper...

Speaking of indulgences...

Chocolate dipped, filled with cheesecake and topped with graham crackers.

These I didn't actually eat, but I found them on Pinterest and HAD to make them for my cousin's birthday party tomorrow!  SOOOOO CUTE!

Day 55

The subtitle to this post should be... Overcoming Temptation.

I got up yesterday morning paid bills, made a quick Wal-Mart trip then went home and had lunch, did dishes, did laundry and straightened up most of the bedroom (the space between Hub's side of the bed and his shelf and dresser is his responsibility and subsequently you can not walk on carpet in that space...  Not that the rest of our room was much better but hey, I cleaned that up,) and packed for my weekend in T-town.

Hub's came home for lunch around 3 and I left for T-town around 4.  I rolled into town and promptly ran into MASSIVE traffic (which isn't much in comparison to say, Baltimore, but for T-town stand still traffic is a big deal.)  There was an accident so I ventured off the highway and looped around to the bypass and ended up only being about 15 minutes later than I thought I'd be meeting my mom, brother, other brother, sister-in-law and BEAUTIFUL niece for dinner at Carrabba's.

This is where our sub-title comes into play.   I LOVE ITALIAN FOOD.  I love mozzarella cheese, especially fried, I love PASTA, I love meatballs, I love BREAD!  When I got there my family already had a table and appetizers (fried mozz, calamari and bread) and I sat down and started studying the menu.

I ordered a bowl of Spaghetti and Meatballs with and Italian salad.  I only ate half the spaghetti and meatballs, all of the salad and I DID NOT TOUCH the fried mozz or bread.  It took a lot of restraint to not just say "ta hell with it" and dig in, but I knew that this would be the first of many restaurant trips this weekend and I stayed under my 1800 calorie goal!

I did not, however, consume 2 servings of fruit, eat enough protein or carbs and my sodium was way high.  I didn't exercise either...  Unless you count the 20 minutes I spent flying my niece around the house and playing with her...

All in all we had a fabulous dinner (one where we were there for over 2 hours) and great chill time with family.  My trip was long but it ended in a great time and a good practice of restraint and commitment to this diet!  Now I'm off to go figure out how to control tonight's "Girls Night In" dinner menu!

Day 54

I'm leading the pack in pounds lost for Biggest Loser!!  WHAHOO!  I don't know where I fall in the pack for percentage lost (we haven't even tried to figure it out yet) but I'm feeling pretty good about being in the lead!

I lost another pound at work this week so I'm at an even 20 lost!  Now let's hope my weigh in on Sunday gives me the same results.

I'm going to my Mom's this weekend so it should be a good exercise in resisting temptation and portion control.  My Mom isn't known for her love of cooking.  We tend to go out a lot when I'm there so I will just have to plan my food carefully and stick to what I've been doing.

Tonight *J* and I ran Day 2 of Week 7, C25K.  It was a 5 minute warm-up, 26 minute run and 5 minute cool down.  It was surprisingly easy.  I was worried because the last run was so hard for me and I had a REALLY long day at work so I thought I was going to have a rough run.  I just started running and even did a SPRINT the last 20 seconds of the run and could have KEPT GOING!  I am still puzzled why some of the runs are so hard and some are pretty easy but hey, you gotta take what you get.

I ran 2 miles in 26 minutes tonight.  2.6 miles all together.

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Day 53

I have a funny story to share for today.

I bought a new swimsuit tonight and then went to swim.  I got in the pool and took off and wham!  I definitely felt over exposed.  My boob didn't fall out or anything, but I really felt like it was gonna.  I readjusted my suit but it didn't help much.

So I spent 70 lengths pulling up my suit so I didn't expose myself to the lifeguards (one of which is a student and a co-worker's daughter.)  I guess I won't be wearing that suit for a while.  I bought it a little small because the last suit I bought in my size was way too large!  They are a different fit though, so I just need to drop a few more inches.  Less tummy means more fabric to cover the girls!

My swimming status so far is 904 lengths out of 7000.  Almost 1/7 of the way there!

Other than that today was pretty normal.  We had a pretty big dinner but I still got in a mile swim and 15 min of racquetball.  We're out of school on Friday so our Biggest Loser weigh in is tomorrow.  My weights have been pretty good all week so let's hope I didn't go too far off track tonight!

Badges

I was looking at my caloriecamp stuff and was so excited by my new badge that I thought I'd post all my badges, just to brag.  Not really just to brag because I'm not sure how accurate some of those badges are (like the running...)  Anyway, just so you know and they're all in one place.  I'll start with 1 and go from the top left to the bottom right!

1. 10/14 greens for 7 days!
2. Stay below your sodium limit 10/14 days.
3. Post 5 comments on caloriecamp.
4. Log your food for 30 days.
5. Attain a B+ (nutrition grade) or higher 20/30 days.
6. Run 30 miles within a month.
7. Complete the Iron nutrient goal.
8. Have a perfect day! (10/14 greens on nutritional analysis.)
9. Consume 30 servings of fruit over 30 days.
10. Drink 8 cups of water 8 days in a row (not sure how I got this one cause I average 6 cups a day...)
11. Complete your first week.
12. Exercise 3 hours in one week.
13. Upload a picture.
14. Post a comment when completing your day.
15. Complete your first day.

I only have 3 left.

1. Try 3 different kinds of fish...   I don't like fish in general, but I do eat a lot of tuna and we recently tried some tilapia so I really only have one more to go before I get this badge.

2. Post 30 comments on caloriecamp.  I'm working on it but sometimes I feel weird posting comments for people I don't know.  That's the beauty of the site though.  Support and advice from complete strangers doing the same thing you are!

3. Reach your goal weight.  This one will take a while because my goal loss is 50 pounds for right now, but my goal weight on caloriecount is 180 pounds.  That I may not get to for quite a while but I'm ok with that!

Day 52

Today has been a pretty good day.  My plan for dinner worked out well and it turns out everyone was jealous of my food!  I had one of my co-workers comment "you're eating that and you're still losing weight?"  But what they don't understand is that I work really hard to balance out my calorie intake and dinner is always my biggest meal of the day!  I had a full plate, but 2/3 of it was green!

Tonight, after conferences, I started going through some of my tops and weeding out the ones that are just too big and the ones I want to donate to goodwill.  I did that until we went to meet *J* to run.

Hubs has been having a hard time with his foot (I think he's got plantar fascia...) so he went back to week 5 tonight but he did the whole run!  *J* and I went on to week 7 day one.  Here's the run down!

5 minute warm-up
20 minute run
3 minute walk
5 minute run
5 minute cool down

Tonight's 20 minutes was NOT easy!  Normally my legs kinda go "numb" after about 3 minutes.  By numb I mean the muscles relax and aren't fighting the workout anymore, I don't actually lose feeling, don't worry.  Tonight they just wouldn't relax.  I had to fight the feeling that I needed to stop, especially in the last 5 minutes, and just keep running.  The second 5 minute run was worse.  Honestly I'd have been better off just running 25 minutes straight!  But we did it and our next run is 26 minutes!  Oh!  And I ran 1.86 miles tonight.  In total I went 2.61 miles.  I'm hoping the extra minute will get me up to 2 miles, and if it doesn't I'll be really damned close!

Monday, February 20, 2012

No, Srsly...

No, seriously....  Who are you guys!

Day 51

I FINALLY GOT THAT STUPID BADGE!!!!!!!!!  I finally made to 10/14 greens 7 days in a row!  I got the badge, I got the badge, I got the badge!!

Hehem....

On another note, it was a good day.  I did well with my food and spent about an hour and 15 min on the racquetball court after climbing the rock wall (or attempting really) 3 times.

Tomorrow we have parent teacher conferences and a staff meeting so I'll be at school from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm.  Issa gonna be a long day.  I'm taking leftovers from last night to eat for dinner even though they are bringing in tortilla soup.  I'm just not a Mexican food fan.  Specifically I don't like chilli powder, which is a Mexican staple.  I'm trying to come up with veggies to take with me but we didn't have any left over tonight.  We do have raw carrots but that's really about it.  I might have to take Wednesday night's veggies and just go buy more.  Oh, the first world problems we have to deal with...  Lol, sheesh.

300

Somehow the blog views just keep going up.  I have almost 300 views.  Who are you?  Are you just passing by, are you following, do you know me?

I had a different blog on this domain for a long time but let it go and it has been gone for over a year.  Were some of you still checking in on that blog?

I'm totally curious!  Who are you?!?  Please let me know!

Day 50

I feel like I'm reporting the same thing over and over again.  Good day/bad day, good food, exercise.  Turns out the middle of a diet is NOWHERE near as interesting as the beginning of a diet!

I guess that's a good sign.  I'm really adjusting to the diet and exercise.  I'm doing well and keep losing every week.  Just gotta maintain that.  I'm still waiting for the ever dreaded plateau.  I suppose I could be proactive and start making a plan of action for when I do plateau.  How DO you get over a plateau.  Keep doing what you're doing or change it up to get over it.  It's an interesting thought.  I've always expected that someday it would happen but never thought much past it.

Ok, I'm rambling.  So here's my day.  We got up this morning and I did my weigh in.  After breakfast and lunch we met *J* to do Day 3 of Week 6, C25K.  Today we did a 5 minute warm-up, 15 minute run, 3 minute walk, 10 minute run and 5 minute cool down.  I actually ended up running 1.87 miles and with the walking 2.55 miles overall!  I can't say that I'm enjoying the running.  I have NEVER enjoyed running.  I don't get a rush of endorphins and feel really good after running.  Mostly I feel tired and stiff and like my muscles are going to kill me.  What I do feel, however, is a sense of accomplishment.  I've been working very hard to get to this point and almost running 2 miles seems crazy to me!  I don't run.  Especially not long distances.  2 MILES!

I've decided to start doing my weigh in at school on Mondays.  I don't like weighing in on Friday's because I think it throws me and makes me panic about the weekend.  I think doing the weigh in on Monday I'll be better prepared and it will more accurately reflect my progress.

Ok, I think this post has been random enough.  Happy Day 50!

Week 7, Weigh In

Here we go!

Weight in Pounds: 225.6 (-1.4 pounds, -19.4 total!)
Waist in Inches: 39 (-.5 inches, - 6 inches total!)
Hips in Inches: 45.5  (-1 inch, 5 inches total!)

This week has been Crazy!  Here's the low down.

Sunday: On the road, had lunch out with my Dad.
Monday: Snow Day, couldn't go workout because the Y was closed.
Tuesday: Valentines Day.  Worked out but then ate like a crazy person at dinner!
Wednesday: Pretty much my only normal day this week, good food and 20 minute run
Thursday: Parent teacher conferences so I had pizza for dinner and was too tired to go workout.
Friday: Had a pretty good day.  Did good with food and did another 20 minute run.
Saturday: 1 mile swim, good food day.

I'm totally surprised that I didn't gain this week and I'm REALLY happy with my loss.  I am, however, slightly annoyed that I'm still .6 pounds away from losing the elusive 20 POUNDS.  One more week I suppose!  It's not like I'm stopping anytime soon.

Ok, I'd say this week, crazy as it was, gets a fruity smile!

Day 49

Today has been a pretty good day.  We got up this morning and I made a nice brunch.  I packed up a few snacks and my suit then Hubs and I left to take the foster pup we've been keeping to meet his new mom!

On the way home we stopped by the Y and I tried to correct my slacking off in the swimming department!  I swam a mile today and then Hubs and I went and played racquetball for a bit.  I tried to go upstairs and do weights but my arms were super tired after my swim.  OH WELL!  You can only do what your body lets you!

I made a DELICIOUS new chicken recipe tonight for dinner and we had a good time sitting and watching re-runs of Dancing With the Stars.  Hubs went out to hang out with the boys and I've been primping on the couch.  It was HIGH TIME my toes got some attention.

Tomorrow is my weigh in and this morning when I got on the scale I was right where I was last Sunday, so who knows what tomorrow will bring!

Day 48

I apparently fell off the face of the planet yesterday.  Didn't work out but I did well on food.

My weigh in for school was not stellar today.  I didn't lose according to the school scale.  We'll see where I get on Sunday.  After this week I'm really not surprised though...

Today was a pretty good day.  I did awesome on food and Hubs and I went and redid day 2 of week 6, C25K.  I reran for him and upped my pace by .02 tonight.  I ended up running about 1.5 miles!  Getting there slowly but surely.

I didn't do any swimming this week.  Whoops.  I'll get back on that train next week!  Gotta keep up with my mini goals.

The one thing diet related I did discover this week was a way to tailor pants REALLY easily.  I was trying to find an outfit to wear on Tuesday night and none of my pants fit.  They were all HUGE!  I'm not complaining, but it makes it a little difficult to look pretty.  Anyway, I was tugging here and there and ended up gathering a bunch of material in the back of my pants, folding it over and pinning it.  The pins ended up pulling so I took out my sewing machine and did a quick stitch down to the seam.  It ends up making a triangle shaped cut out in the back and it made my pants fit perfectly!  I did it to slacks and jeans without a problem!  Yay for a cheap fix for my pants for a while!

Day 46

Today was a pretty good catch up day.  We had a wonderful time out last night and it was a great splurge.

Today was a great day to get back on track, and back on track I got!  I had a great food day and then came home and even did a little cleaning before I made dinner.

After dinner hubs and I headed to the Y and I did Week 6, Day 2 of C25K!  Today was a 5 minute warm-up, 20 minute run and a 5 minute cool down.  I RAN THE ENTIRE 20 MINUTES!  I ended up running 1.4 miles and almost going 2 whole miles when you added the warm-up and cool down!  I haven't done that run since last spring/summer and I DID IT!  WHOOP!  After another 30 minutes of racquetball and I was spent, but it was a great work-out night!

Day 45

I did really well all day until....

VALENTINES DAY!!  I went buck wild today and hubs and I went to dinner!  It was soooooo good and I totally enjoyed every last buttery, chocolaty bite.

I did manage to go do weights after work so at least I got a work out in.  It was a pretty great day!

Day 44

Yesterday was a SNOW DAY!  I slept in, got up and sat on the couch reading for the remainder of the day.  I did managed to go out to pick up stuff for dinner but the Y was closed (because school was closed) so no workout for me.  Tonight I get to go off the diet (although I logged everything anyway.  STILL UNDER 2000 calories by my estimate) and even if I overeat I DON'T care!  We'll see if I can get in a workout anyway...

Day 43

Today has been a pretty good food day!  We were traveling back to the house and I made some excellent choices today.  We stopped back by my Dad's to have lunch and ended up going to a steak place.  I decided to go for their chicken strips (because they are DELISH) and instead of fries I opted to ask for green beans!  I also had a salad and a roll but managed to stay pretty low on calories!

We got home and went to the Y to run and then did our grocery shopping.  We're expecting snow tonight and I wanted to make sure we had food if we couldn't get out tomorrow.

We did something tonight that I rarely do and had fish for dinner.  I'm just not a fan of food that comes from the ocean.  Never have been, but I'm trying to expand my horizons and decided that fish was the first step.  I decided on some Parmesan crusted tilapia and it was actually pretty good.  Not too much fishy taste.  Definitely something we can have again!

I'm hoping to get into bed pretty early tonight so I can be fully rested for when they DON'T cancel school in the morning.  I'm hoping for at least a delay, but probably won't receive that either.  OH WELL!  Here's to the end of a great diet week and the start of a new one!

Week 6, Weigh In

Ok!  Here we go!

Weight in Pounds: 227 (-4 pounds this week)
Waist in Inches: 39.5 (-.5 inches this week)
Hips in Inches: 46.5  (-.5 inches this week)

OVERALL
- 18 Pounds!
- 5.5 inches in my waist!
- 4 inches in my hips!

I feel FANTASTIC about this weigh in!  Almost to 20 pounds lost.  Maybe next week I'll get there!

This week gets a SMILEY!
